John Mingle

John Mingle is a sought-after ballet educator and principal guest artist, bringing over a decade of professional stage experience to his teaching. A Texas native, John trained on scholarship with the San Francisco Ballet School, Pacific Northwest Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and Ballet Frontier of Texas before earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance from Southern Methodist University. While at SMU, he was selected to perform the role of Waltz Man in George Balanchine’s Serenade at the grand opening of the Winspear Opera House.

John’s professional career includes seasons with Cincinnati Ballet and Dayton Ballet, and nine seasons as a leading dancer with the Alabama Ballet, where he retired in May 2025. With Alabama Ballet, he performed many principal roles, including Basilio and Espada in Don Quixote, Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Prince Désiré in The Sleeping Beauty, Franz in Coppélia, Cavalier in Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, Von Rothbart in Swan Lake, and lead roles in Balanchine’s Western Symphony, Christopher Bruce’s Rooster, and Twyla Tharp’s Nine Sinatra Songs. His artistry has been recognized nationally, including a 2019 feature in Pointe Magazine.

Now focusing his career on ballet pedagogy, John is dedicated to training dancers to achieve technical excellence, artistic depth, and professional readiness. He serves as an adjunct instructor of ballet at Samford University and continues to inspire students through his work with schools, intensives, and master classes across the country, while also appearing as a principal guest artist with ballet companies nationwide.
